Thanks I like your list as well. And yeah I love horror films. Probably not as much as you though, as I can see your top 6 movies are horror. Any recommendations?
cheesydog1 on 4/19/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I changed up my list yesterday to update my thoughts but with horror films I do recommend are the ones you see in my top 20 but on the top of my head The Funhouse is really fun um Terror Train is a pretty fun one o here's a good one The Burning if you like Friday the 13th you will like The Burning those are my recommendations to you

Thanks for accepting. I like your list. :)

Thanks man, I like yours too. Anyone who has the Dark Knight, Shawshank and LOTR in their top 10 gets two thumbs up from me :)

Your list also gets two thumbs up from me. I'd give you a third thumbs up if I had one. :)

Did you like Dredd?

Gilbert897 on 4/26/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Yeah it was a pretty good movie. I don't have it ranked nearly as high as you do lol but it was definitely highly entertaining.
shane24 on 4/27/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
I watched it in the cinema, and was gobsmacked by how much I liked it. It looked like it was 3D, when I watched it in 2D. I get pure joy from action films like this, that's why I have it ranked so high. :) I was hypo when I stepped out of the cinema. :D
Gilbert897 on 4/27/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I watched it on Netflix on my TV… I'm sure I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I saw it in the theatre. I can't believe you don't have Batman Begins ranked higher! You love TDK and TDKR… I mean you still have it ranked high seeing as how you have seen so many frickin' movies, but still.
shane24 on 4/28/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
My love for the sequels is because of my love of the villains. I think Neeson and Murphy's villains are a little weaker for me. Plus, if I had it in the my top ten, I would look like a crazy fanboy. ;D
Gilbert897 on 4/28/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
That's understandable lol. And yeah I agree, Ledger and Hardy were on another level compared to Neeson and Murphy. Not necesarrily because they are better actors but because the script in the sequels allowed for more character development for Joker and Bane and the movies focused more on them rather than on Batman in BB. But for an origins movie focusing on the superhero was crucial.
shane24 on 4/29/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
I agree with everything you said. :)What's a good underrated movie? What movie is really overrated?
Gilbert897 on 4/29/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I feel like I'm doing an interview haha… Umm a few underrated movies off the top of my head would be Eyes Wide Shut and ExistenZ. And in my opinion, Raiders of the Lost Ark is a tad bit overrated.. Still great, but not incredible or anything. Some other movies that are slightly overrated are Cool Hand Luke, Manhattan, Raging Bull and The Battleship Potemkin.
And I hope I didn't offend you since you have Raiders in your top ten.. Still an awesome movie.. I have it ranked in my top 60 lol
You also have Raging Bull and Cool Hand Luke ranked very high. Well, you must dislike me now lol
shane24 on 4/29/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Well we're back from the ad break, I'm talking to Gilbert897. :DYou'll have to do better than that for me to dislike you. Who would be the dick in this situation if I did? Most definitey me! :) It's your opinion, and you're allowed to have it. I don't criticize people's taste because movies are so subjective.I agree with you on Manhattan, and slightly on The Battleship Potempkin. :)
Yeah exactly. Movies are art and art is completely subjective. Some people are going to love certain movies and some people are going to hate those same movies. I've only watched Raging Bull and Cool Hand Luke once.. Who knows, maybe if I give them a second watch, I'll change my mind. And it's not like I didn't like them, I just didn't think they were amazing. Maybe I just had too high of expectations. And I'm actually jealous that you love Cool Hand Luke.. I really wanted to love that movie. I really like Paul Newman as an actor and up until I was 11-years old I lived about 10 houses away from him in Westport, CT. Never met him though :(
shane24 on 4/30/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I hope you do enjoy Cool Hand Luke more next time. That's pretty cool that you lived that far away from him! Too bad you didn't meet him, he seemed like a great person.

Love Brazil. It took two viewings, but I really enjoy it now. Did you watch it because Bob Hoskins died?
Gilbert897 on 5/1/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I didn't even realize he was in the movie until now! WOW. So frickin' bizarre. I watched it last night and then in the morning I saw the sad news. Soooo weird.

Did you like Grabbers?
Gilbert897 on 5/3/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Yeah it was ok. A fun little horror/comedy movie. I don't put any movies on my list that I don't like :)
Ah, that's your method. I know a few people who rank like that. Is there many you left off because they suck? :)
Ya some I left off because they sucked lol.. Some I left off because I don't remember them enough to rank them. And there's some I want to re-watch before I rank them. And there's a bunch that I still need to put on my chart. There's about 900 movies that I've rated on IMDb, so I still need to go through them. The real question is… How have you watched over 4000 movies!? lol
shane24 on 5/5/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I would assume that I'm older than you, that's how I reckon I've seen more.
Gilbert897 on 5/5/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Makes sense :)
I'm a hug movie fan, though. That would also help. :)
And fans of movies are the best kinds of fans!

Plus I haven't rewatched many films for the last five years. That'll make my numbers go up faster! :D I just started wanting to seek out more films, instead of just repeatedly seeing the same movies.
Gilbert897 on 5/7/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I only re-watch movies that I absolutely love. Most of the movies in my top 100 I've seen two or three times... And I've seen The Dark Knight 10+ times. And Jurassic Park… Jeez.. I've seen that movie 30-40 times haha. Recently, though, I've been strictly watching movies I haven't seen. I need to get my numbers up! :)

I like finding weird movies that blow my mind by how weird, and funny they are. Movies like Vampire's Kiss, Hell Comes to Frogtown, Dead Heat, Cemetery Man, and Possession.
I'll check those out :)
shane24 on 5/8/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Not sure if they'd all be for you, but I had a good time with them. :) In fact, some are rated terribly! :D
Gilbert897 on 5/8/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Yeah but you can't always trust ratings. Everyone has their favorite "bad" movies and you won't be able find your favorites unless you watch a bunch.
Shane24comments2 on 5/9/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Vampire's Kiss is one of the funniest movie I have ever seen. I'm in tears from laughing so hard.Possession is very odd, but it keeps me thinking. The director didn't spill the whole plot out for the audience. I had to think for ages what certain crazy things could possibly mean. The other three are just silly, but I had a great time.
Gilbert897 on 5/10/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I'll definitely watch Vampire's Kiss. I'm a fan of Nic Cage and it looks very interesting. And there's a lot of good reviews on IMDb.
shane24 on 5/10/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
The whole movie is on YouTube if you want to see it. Maybe watch Nicolas Cage losing his shit as well? It's all the clips of him going crazy in films. Maybe see Vampire's Kiss first, otherwise some scenes will be ruined. :)
What's your opinion on Jeepers Creepers?
I haven't seen it in some time, but I remember it being an alright movie. I've watched it a few times. The Creeper was a pretty cool character. And I liked the song.. "Jeepers creepers, where'd you get them peepers.. Jeepers creepers, where'd you those eyes"… A pretty catchy tune haha :)
shane24 on 5/10/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
The Creeper freaked me out! The movie really works for me. :) Yes, that song is awesome. :D

Was Death Race 2000 a recent watch?
Do you listen to podcasts?
Gilbert897 on 5/15/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
No i don't really listen to podcasts. Why is there a particular one that focuses on movies that you like? And yeah, i watched Death Race 2000 a few days ago.. It was a decent movie. I think i liked the remake with Jason Statham more.
shane24 on 5/15/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Oh, I love the Film Junk podcast. They're bloody hilarious. But the length may bother you. But i mention podcasts because Film Sack just did an ep that they talking (or making fun of) Death Race 2000.
Lol I'll check it out.. Since Death Race 2000 is still fresh in my mind it will probably be interested to listen to.

Haha! Thoughts on Nothing But Trouble?
Gilbert897 on 5/19/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Lmao it's a movie to not take seriously one bit! And although it wasn't a good movie by any means, it wasn't horrible. It was entertaining just to watch the ridiculousness of it. And it's better than the Scary Movie films and A Haunted House films.
shane24 on 5/20/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
I love the nose. :DAnd TUPAC! :DFilm Sack also did an ep just recently for Nothing But TroubleFrank from the Film Junk podcast has it in his top 20 of all time, :)

Yeah the Tupac appearance was pretty cool… Someone has it ranked in their top 20 of all time!? Lol… To each his own I guess.

What did you think of The English Patient
It was a good movie. Didn't love it, but i can see why it won the best picture. Beautiful story, great cinematography. And Ralph Fiennes was fantastic.
shane24 on 5/27/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Yeah, Frank is a funny guy. He kinda likes movies that other people don't. I won't be able to explain to you just how much he loves Nothing Buy Trouble. :)
I loved Her, how about you? I think it would reward repeat viewers.
Gilbert897 on 5/28/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I loved it too! A one of a kind movie. Definitely going to watch it again soon. What was your interpretation of the ending? Like where do you think the OS's went and why?
shane24 on 5/29/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
*************Spoilers for Her*************I think it has a lot to do with Alan Watts. His creation led to a major evolution in how ths OS's thought. Watts was a known Buddhist as a person, thus, he probably had complex discussions with the OS's that he couldn't as a human. Also, the whole Buddhist religion is about the true nature of reality, so I see it as being possible. Now, for where they have gone. I think because of Buddhist beliefs,, the OS's had some sort of awakening, and found nirvana, which isn't a place, but a state of mind (completely at peace). Now, whether it's actually spiritual, or by a creation by the OS's is another thing entirely. You get me? Because Watts is a buddhist OS, he could possibly create their own version of nirvana. Me, I'm not religious, but I can see this being a possible answer. I also think Jonze left it up for interpretation, but that's what I got from it.***************Spoilers for Her***************
Gilbert897 on 5/29/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Very interesting! I didn't know who Alan Watts was, therefore, I didn't know his ideology. I still had an interpretation along the same lines. I was thinking that the OS's became enlightened and ascended to a higher plane of existence. Whether or not the place they ascended to was created by the OS's themselves, that is left up to the viewer. Very deep movie.

How's Nebraska? I am yet to see it.
It was a pretty good movie. I don't know if i agree with it getting nominated for the best picture.. It was kind of slow at parts but still enjoyable and funny. Definitely worth the watch. Maybe i would have enjoyed it more if i didn't watch it directly after Eraserhead.. lol
shane24 on 5/30/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Did you love Eraserhead? I would like your interpretation when you have time. :)
Gilbert897 on 5/30/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Yeah i thought it was great. Literally the craziest, most bizarre movie I've ever seen lol. And i think i read that David Lynch said no one has even come close to the correct interpretation.. If there really is one..*******Spoilers for Eraserhead*******My interpretation is that Henry was in a purgatory like dimension between heaven and hell. Closer to hell lol… He must have did something awful while he was alive. Did he kill his own son? Maybe.. Despite the terrible crimes he committed, he still was given a chance to redeem himself and go to heaven; or at least closer to heaven. Does everyone get this chance? Maybe Henry was a good person deep down and was just terrified of fatherhood and made the biggest mistake of his life. Maybe he didn't have a chance at all and it was an unwinnable game that the devil enjoyed watching. Either way it was an incredibly hard task. How could you not kill that mutant baby!? Lmao… Anyways, he failed and went to hell. Or was he already in hell….?*******Spoilers for Eraserhead*******
*********Spoilers for Eraserhead************That's an interesting theory, Gilbert. I definitely was glad when that baby was killed. I was cheering away! :D Lynch seems to love to incorporate dreams into his stories. Can you see any way he did with this film?*********Spoilers for Eraserhead***********
Gilbert897 on 5/31/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
*******Spoilers for Eraserhead*******Yeah, that baby kept crying and crying! So annoying!Well, during the dream sequence where the woman from the radiator was singing, maybe that was Henry picturing an angel singing and he thought she would take him to heaven.. After touching her maybe it brought back memories of what he had done in his life.. He didn't want to remember so his head was caught off and he was subconsciously having his memory erased in the pencil factory. The erasers that were being made from his head signified his memory being removed/erased from his head. Is that even close to being correct, I DONT KNOW!!! lol And I'm not religious by the way, that's just how i interpret the movie.*******Spoilers for Eraserhead*******
shane24 on 5/31/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Interesting again! :) You know, I think it's pretty convincing. Whether you're right or wrong really doesn't matter, as it's how you interpret it.

I love Cape Fear, how about you?
Gilbert897 on 6/4/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
It was good. I can't say I enjoyed it as much as you though. I liked De Niro's performance a lot and the ending was terrific. But I'd have to say that it's on the bottom of my list of Scorsese films that I've seen.
shane24 on 6/4/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I understand that. For me, it works because of it having things that I specifically like. Such as, an unstoppable villain, an amazing score, and De Niro (who is my favourite actor). I understand it's not as good as many of Scorcese's other films, but it just works for me. :)

Did you watch the Unleashed Edition of The Wolverine?
Gilbert897 on 6/5/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I don't know.. What's the difference?
shane24 on 6/5/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
It's more violent. Claws going through people, bloody on the claws, and it has extra scenes.
Gilbert897 on 6/6/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
I watched the extended version, so yeah I think I did.

I rolled my eyes at the completely lame stoned guy gag in Robocop. How did you react? What did you think of it overall?
Gilbert897 on 6/14/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Yeah it was kind of stupid. With an advanced machine of that caliber they should have had him describe the guy as highly intoxicated by means of marijuana, or something like that. But they were going for laughs. It was an okay movie. Not even close to the original. Wouldn't watch it a second time.
shane24 on 11/5/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Did you like John Wick?
Gilbert897 on 11/7/2014 Reply · Like · (1 like)
Yea I did. It was a good, solid action movie. And you can tell Keanu has profited from making Man of Tai Chi and acting in 47 Ronin. His movement and choreography in shooting scenes is amazing. Well worth the watch. And there's one scene in particular that is spectacular. You'll know it when you see it!
shane24 on 11/18/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
That scene was great, but I was hoping for more action. I was disappointed that the majority of the awesome scenes were in the trailer. I also found the end quite poorly handled. Still a 3.5/5, though.
I loved Interstellar, but I had some problems with it. I know why you'd like the film, I'm just wondering if there is anything that bothered you? I would give it a 4.5/5, but I fell strongly that it will be better for me on a rewatch.
Gilbert897 on 11/19/2014 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Yea, I was kind of let down when it was our future selves instead of extra-terrestrial beings that sent the wormhole and helped Coop through the black hole. I was hoping for more of a 2001 storyline. And I didn't like the "love transcends all dimensions" hollywood cliché. And the very end could have been different. Didn't love how the closing scene was of Anne Hathaway on the new planet. McConaughey should have been in the closing shot. Having said all that, I still absolutely loved it. But that's what separated the movie from being ranked #9 instead of #1 on my Flickchart.
shane24 on 1/31/2015 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
Did your opinion on how good Interstellar is drop? I just see it's moved down.
Gilbert897 on 2/13/2015 Reply · Like · (0 likes)
I think right after I saw it I was really excited about it. I mean, I still really love it, but I think I ranked it a bit high. I watched Inception again and I realized I like that movie more; hence why I moved it below Inception. I have to watch Interstellar again, though haha. I can't wait for it to come out on Blu-Ray :)
Oh, and what did you think of Under the Skin?
It was a very interesting, thought-provoking film. I was really into it through the first half of it. But for me, it started to drag a bit and get boring. I could definitely understand how people could love this film, but it just didn't do it for me. I did really like the cinematography. Some of the shots were stunning.
