shawshank redemption is without doubt the best movie ever made.i ve watched it at least 10 times without yawning or getting bored and every time i see this movie i fell into a big emotional situation

I know there are other movies that I've been more excited about to see but everytime this movie ends up at number one beacuse its just awesome. I recently watched it for the first time and its perfect.

It sounds so cliche, but this film gets me every time. How it ever went unnoticed initially after release is a mystery that I will probably never understand.

Nominated for 7 Oscars but no wins; not nominated for Best Director... these are crimes against cinema. This is one of the greatest films ever made.

In my opinion, this is a good movie, but not a great movie. Solid story line, lead acting, supporting cast, and overall atmosphere, but I believe it falls short of great movies in many ways.

Definitely NOT the best film ever. Cinema is so diverse and stretches over the globe. This is a great film but not the best.

This film is extremely low on my Flickchart, but i think Shawshank is an absolutely overrated film. With 90% on RT, this is no an big film, i think 70% is the correct.

It's arguable, since IMDB holds it even higher than The Godfather. However, I do agree that Godfather is pretty much the only film able to consistently claim that it is at least one of the top three (or two) best movies of all time; holding a perfect score on both rotten tomatoes and Metacritic, and ranked second best on RT; as well as Third best on flickchart.
...not to mention even on IMDB it's second best. So at worst it's the second best movie ever.
