The best sci-fi this year. The Martian is just a crowd pleaser that copies a lot from better films like The Red Planet, Apollo 13 and Gravity. Ex Machina is a brilliant original that has more in common with the thought provoking film Moon.

Since the Oscar nominations are out, hopefully this movie wins the Oscars for best visual effects, and for original screenplay, to bad Oscar Isaac wasn't nominated for best actor and Alicia Vikander wasn't nominated for this movie either, this was a good sci fi movie, the visual effects were great, the performances were great, this was a good year for Oscar Isaac.

Really liked it. Amazing visuals and atmosphere. Oscar Isaac was great; one of his best performances. I felt a little let down by the ending, I mean, it was good, but fairly predictable. 8/10 easily.

While not original, it is still the best film about AI ever made. Beautifully filmed and expertly paced. A smart, thought-provoking film, with great performances from the three leading actors.
