Oh sorry mate! I didn't see your comment there. :)

Yeah, I agree with you about the acting. I enjoyed Charlie Hunnam a great deal, despite hearing many people say they didn't like him. Have you seen him in Sons of Anarchy?

The bit I didn't like from the Australian characters were their Australian accents. You see I'm Australian, so those terrible accents really grated on me for the entire movie. If you're going to have Aussie characters, why not just hire two Aussies?

I didn't see the extra footage at the end, did you?

I didn't like it as much as you, but it was a fantastic movie that shot the action very clear so the audience could see what was happening easily. I'd give it an 8/10. :)

Looks like you had a bit of a minor Stallone marathon. I watched one myself! Bullet to the Head isn't very good in my opinion. It looked cheap, had an annoying score that was too repetitive, no chemistry between the leads and just looked ugly. The only bit I liked was the axe fight. :)

What's Flesh Wounds? I've never heard of it, is it terrible?

Sharni Vinson is good? Man, I know her from Home and Away, a soap show here in Australia. She used to be terrible! I guess it could of just been the lousy material she had to work with.

You're Next seems to be like the new The Cabin in the Woods. It has surprises, throws a new spin on a genre, and was also held back two years for stupid reasons.

For me it is, but I can't say you'd like it as much as me. It just suits my liking of over-the-top action movies. Plus Smith's anger really suits my own (except I'm much nicer than him :D), so it's fun seeing him cause carnage of people who do stuff that piss me off. So no, you probably wouldn't like it as much as me, but you may find It a serviceable action film. I've had two other people ask me about Shoot 'Em Up this week. One loved it, the other thought it was average. If you don't take it seriously, then you may enjoy it.

I gave it a 3.5/5 on letterboxd. I love the start. Riddick is stuck on this harsh planet, trying to survive. Then, the bounty hunters come into it. To be honest, I enjoyed it, but I nearly could of watched a whole movie just like the start. The third act is different once again, very Pitch Black like. My only real problem with the movie was that the ending was a bit of a fizzle for me. I didn't even know it was finishing, it was just not exciting enough. I think it's a solid movie, much better than Chronicles of Riddick.

lone survivor was a fantastic movie, well directed, great chemistry between the 4 main actors i think that was mark wahlberg's best movie, in the beginning of the movie you see people in real life training to become a navy seal, and at the end you see a tribute to the men that was based of the movie that was pretty cool to watch, and the action in that movie was great, 4 navy seals against 200 Taliban soldiers, shit got real in that movie.

Isn't it out over there? I wish The Lego Movie was out, but that's not out in Australia until April 3.

I gave Robocop 2/5 on Letterboxd. Very bland action, cliche characters, the humour is ridiculous, and it's should've been more violent. Nothing really stands out.

One example of the "humour". Robocop is scanning this potential criminal. On the screen in his visor, it tells him that the guy is 'totally stoned'. I don't think a three billion dollar suit would say that. Ridiculous.

The ratio of bad movies on your list is unfortunately the majority. I too have seen way too many bad movies.

I think Oldman's character should've gone to jail. Just because he has a changes his mind at the end, doesn't excuse what he did. It could have been an interesting layer. The movie really should've had more violence also.

Yeah! That actually was quite freaky, wasn't it?! I was impressed. I just wished his face was a bit more screwed up, and he kept his visor down. That way, when they revealed his face, it would give the audience a big reaction.

How do you feel about the black suit? I wish they just kept the old one. I heard they leaked the photos to get a reaction......the reaction wasn't good. So, I re kong they went back and changed the last scene so he had the original suit on again.

I also wish there was more action out on the streets. Too much of it didn't have any stakes because the majority is training.

It's about shit, that's what. :) It's about two women who move to L.A to be dancers, but instead attempt to scam a dying millionaire. B.A.P.S stands for black American princesses. Which, only comes up in the last five minutes of the film. The acting, humour, and audio is terrible. I had the volume way up, yet could barely hear them talk. Then the soundtrack would nearly blow me out of my seat. :) Oh, and it stars Oscar winner Martin Landau, and future Oscar winner Halle Berry.

Lisa feels like shes been haunted but shes a ghost that's haunting the house that a girl named Olivia and her parents own in the present day, Lisa discovers that the house her and her family lived in was owned by a serial killer who used to kidnap teenage girls and burn there remains in a hidden furnace room, when he died he became a haunter that posses the living, Lisa's father was possed and killed her and her family, she goes back and forth with Olivia to help her out so she and her family don't die Oilvia's father is possed, Lisa helps her out she and the killer have some sort of stand at the end he's telling her she can't leave the house she's telling him he can't kill oilvia and her parents then the first girl he killed comes to the rescue to help her out the then the next scene you see all of the people he killed then gang up on him and kill him, then the end of the movie it's Lisa's 16th birthday she can finally celebrate her birthday it's not groundhog day any more the end.

It's a Aussie outback horror loosely based on serial killers that murdered backpackers.

The first film focuses more on the backpackers, allowing us to get to know them. The second, the focus is on Mick, one if the craziest serial killers i've ever seen in a film.

I must admit, I give a great score because I have a soft spot for these films.

You'll love The Raid 2, going by what Mark was telling me.

Um, Thor 2 was a light 3.5/5 for me. I didn't like the villain, some of the action felt very similar to previous Marvel films, and the humour sucked (especially from Kat Dennings). I do laugh that Thor's eyebrows are darker than they were in the original. :D As I said to Mark, I'm excited for Guardians of the Galaxy because it looks like they're trying something much different to the same old formula that they have stuck to so far.

i can't wait to see raid 2 i liked Thor it was better then iron man 3, Loki is still the better villain he was better then malekith but it was nice to see another villain in the movie. some of the humor in the movie was alright kat dennings humor was not that good. can''t wait for the guardians of the galaxy.

Not bad, not great. It had me intrigued at the start, but quickly altered into the usual hack and slash horror film, with cliche characters. It grabbed my attention again towards the end, but I didn't think Amber Heard did a good enough job to make what happens believable. I'd give it a 3/5.

Yep! It's called The Wolverine Unleashed Edition. I own it, but have yet to see it. Hope to at least watch a bit of it tonight.

She is still in the city, but she just moved into a new flat. She just needed her brother to help with the heavy stuff, such as passing queen sized mattresses up to the next floor from outside. Phew! :)

Yep, Bad Neighbours. We have this crappy, yet popular soap show called Neighbours that has been on for over twenty years. It's also called Bad Neighbours in the U.K for the same reason. You may even see a poster for it on here, I have.

But seriously, who the fuck would mistake the two? If somebody did, I would say it's their own fuckng fault. They must think people are bloody idiots.

Exactly, watchman! It is all buildup to a great ending. Makes me wonder if they'll ruin the sequel with too much of the monsters.

Yeah, it was a bit. This is coming from a guy that likes Family Guy, American Dad, and Ted. I found that all the good jokes were in the trailer, so I had already seen them, and they drag out jokes too long. A bit about people not smiling in photos especially. I would've liked more jokes revolving around how simplistic things now, were so difficult back then.

Neighbours was much funnier, and had many funny scenes not shown in the trailer.

I had fun with Stolen. Lucas doing an over-the-top performance that's very Nicolas Cage-ish, 80's cops show music, some ridiculous lines, and a pretty impressive car chase.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was intense, with a great score, and a great performance by Serkis. 5/5. The ending is brilliant.

Dragon 2 had great visuals, and some really funny lines. 4.5/5

A murder scene cleaning crew have been hired to clean up a recently murdered old man's house. Once there, they find a woman that can't speak. As the film progresses, you learn more of this mysterious woman, and what is outside trying to find her.

I found to be quite a good film for whatit was. They made this for $10,000. That is a great effort, in my opinion. Sure, some of the special effects aren't top notch, but I forgive that, knowing their limitations.

I also liked it being a different type of creature horror film to what we usually see lately ( eg vampires, zombies, werewolves)

Judd hirsch was awesome as cab driver. i would rate it 3.7 out of 5 stars, i like the first one a little better the main character got eaten by a shark and he chainsaws himself out i mean that scene was awesome, if the director is making sharknado 3 i really looking forward to it. my mom stared watching sharknado 2 with me and she's says this movie is stupid and she walked away.

it's rated pg 13 not enough terry crews and jet li, the young expendales didn't bother me to much, since it's pg when people get shot no blood comes out only dirt or air comes out, if the movie was rated r expendables 3 would have the best one.

I guess they were targeting a younger audience with the young members, and the rating. But it didn't work, as it has bombed so far. I guess people are going to see Guardians and Turtles instead.

I gave it a 4/5. The first image you see is interesting, and quite terrifying. However, they overuse it. The movie could've used a bit more humour. Sure, there's a "funny" cop, but he just felt like he was in the wrong movie. I appreciated some fresh ideas, but the attempt to frighten using jump scares wasn't appreciated. I nearly always see them coming, so I'm never frightened by them. What I like is when filmmakers provide creative ideas to build tension.

Very average, watchman. I was looking forward to it, as it looked like a film I usually like. But the story is very bland, and certain characters are underused, or not given enough character development. Plus I couldn't understand what half the people were saying most of the time! Everybody must've of been told to talk with a slur because the film is gritty. Bloody annoying.

Guardians was amazing. The humour, visuals, acting, camaraderie, and music were all great. I just wish they added ooga chaka music to at least one action scene like they did in the trailer.

Lucy was stupid plot wise, but had it's moments. Forgettable, but decent. I wouldn't rush out to see it if I was you.

Well, the first Maniac Cop is pretty good. But it features a very annoying wrongly convicted plotline throughout that just makes the cops look very dumb. But, the action was still good. I gave it 3.5/5.

The second, shits all over the first (in my opinion). It ramps up the action with some impressive stunts. I could tell that they got more money for the sequel, then spent it all on stunts. It delivered what I hoped for with these types of films, so I was generous with my score. I gave it a 4.5/5. This is one of the favourite films of Tarantino. If it's good enough for him, then it's good enough for me. :)

The third is dog crap. He's trying to find a bride, there's a weird religious guy, and the action is nowhere near as impressive. I gave it a 1/5.

They're all on YouTube if you ever want to check them out. :)

Turtles was decent, nothing amazing. I enjoyed the mountaintop scene, and some of the humour. Fox as April didn't work for me. Her character was stupid. What journalist would go to their editor with that flimsy evidence? Even if it was for a gag, it wasn't a funny one. 3/5.

did you like will arnet's character? i didn't the mountaintop scene was the only cool scene in the movie shredder wasn't really intimidating at all that's the other problem with the movie.

shane24 on 9/25/2014 Reply  ·

Nah, they should've had Casey Jones instead of that Will Arnett character. But, now they've made shredder and the turtles huge, and gave the foot clan guns, a vigilante with a hockey stick doesn't really work unfortunately. The turtles should've been smaller, then they should've fought, and had a hard time, with Shredder. Then, bring in super Shredder, then the intimation is raised straight away. If they had trouble with normal sized Shredder, how are they going to overcome him? The other problem is, they didn't develop Shredder as a character enough. I mean, they left too much to the William Fichtner character.

Did you think the twist was that he was Shredder?

1 person liked this  √

watchman on 9/26/2014 Reply  ·

yeah the foot clan were merc's instead of ninja's i hated that, there wasn't enough shredder in the movie, the turtles and shredder shouldn't have been that tall anyway, the ending should have been different they copied the amazing spider man i didn't like that either.

2 Guns was about what I expected. I was hoping for a 3.5/5 worthy, throwaway action film. I gave it a 3/5, so I was a little disappointed. Wahlberg and Washington have good chemistry, but some of their lines were just poor writing. The plot was also quite stupid. Have you seen it?

I found many moments funny. Like when he's being bitten by the bees, but doesn't try rolling under the stall. :D I loved how big the holes in his face were, too! What kind of bees were they? :D

Big Ass Spider, to me, is a mire exciting version of
Sharknado. It has better acting, some decent effects (for this kind of movie), and it had some genuinely funny moments.

I didn't like Wick as much as I hoped. They hyped him too much. He never had a plan. Just run in guns blazing. I expected creative tactics to cause deaths. I also hated that they left him in the warehouse to be killed. So stupid! Just lime a cheesy Bond movie from the 60's. I also think the end battle was poorly shot and had me disinterested. I also don't like how films start with the main character bleeding, the flashback. It's not required. It's still a 3.5/5.

Yep, Big Ass Spider is better than Sharknado.

I needed a action film, so Homefront worked for me. Bit cheesy and cliche in places, but I had fun.

I love the first Sin City so much, but the sequel felt soulless and empty to me. Rourke's face looked different, Gordon Levitt's story felt like a waste of time, none of the action is anywhere near as good as the first, Jessica Alba wasn't convincing as a drunk. I actually laughed at her a few times. Eva Green was fantastically over the top as usual, but it was a big letdown to me.

The new one? Oh yeah, a masterpiece!! :D I heard some say it was fun, but I couldn't get on board. I have a soft spot too much for the 1993 film. Plus the Milla burglary scenes seemed stupid for this movie. Plus it was reminiscent of of MANY moments I've seen in other films. Also wasn't a fan of the steam punk element. Oh, and Christoph Waltz slept through his performance. Nowhere near the energy that Tim Curry brought to the 1993 film. Mads Mikkellen has nothing on Michael Wincott, an actor I wish was in more movies. Love his voice.

I love Inside Man. Wish Clive Owen was still making good movies.

neither did I, i went on amazon to look at Blu rays i saw it on there, then it was on Netflix 3 months later i watched it and didn't like it, I liked the first one i had fun watching it, it didn't need a sequel, RZA didn't directed the sequel this time instead the guy who directed death race 2 & 3 and the scorpion king 3 was the director for the man with the iron fist 2. RZA needs to stop acting. I love the inside man to it was really good you don't see Clive Owen in any movies any more its sad :/.

Oh, they hired a cheap director? Those Death Race movies are terrible.

Well, Owen is in movies, but they are shitty looking movies. I love his voice. He can deliver lines fantastically.

I think I'm more excited for Ant-Man of those two at this moment.

I need to see more of Batman v Superman. I found some special effects lacking. That could be better later. The statue comes to mind. It looked very fake. I also need to hear more of Affleck doing that voice. Not sure what I think yet. But overall, I'm interested in the film.

Watching Avengers 2 tomorrow. I think it will be rated very high on my list.

so it does get better a second time alright cool i do want to see it again, i liked the movie a lot everybody had great chemistry, the action and the humor were handled very well, Elizabeth Olsen as scarlet witch was a great choice she played the role very well i liked quicksilver in age ultron then in days of future past, vision was awesome it was great to see his character on the big screen, it was great to hawkeye in the movie a lot he had character development, utlron was a better villain then Loki.

I liked the humour more the second time, but some lines had me cringing.

I prefer X-Men Quicksilver a lot more.

I liked The Vision as well, but I wanted to know more about him.

The Thor pool scene wasn't explained very well to me.

I prefer the Utlron in that first teaser trailer. He seemed more menacing. He didn't even say 'there are no strings on me' the way he did in that trailer. I also wish they added the score from the first teaser. That music is much more memorable.

It's a 4.5/5 movie for me.

In a nutshell, the comic-book to film adaption doesn't quite toot my horn. There are some exceptions (re. Spiderman, Man of Steel, some X-men) but the whole premise leaves me feeling somewhat empty. It has nothing to do with Nolan (btw, I absolutely love Interstellar, plus Inception, Memento, etc) or the excellent actors (Bale, Caine, Oldman, etc) but as I've said, the thrill of the view leaves me feeling a bit austere/bleak/bare.

I don't keep that mentality whenever I watch comic-to-film adaptions. Some do work but I always go in with an open mind. As a matter of fact, I'll probably be interested to see Nolan's exec. prod. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" once released (if it does so). I have no clue what it's about but the title seems intriguing.

btw, I prefer TDK Rises over the TDK. :)

Hummingbird aka Redemption, was a weird movie for sure! He seemed to be attempting to act more in the film, but the story wasn't good enough.

I have seen the Transporter trailer, and I don't like it either. I don't know why they didn't just get Statham to return. It wasn't his fault Transporter 3 failed. I blame Olivier Megaton (director of last two bad Taken movies) for making a slow paced movie. This new guy is nothing on Statham.

I thought Spy had moments. Did you see The Heat? If you didn't like that, Spy wouldn't be for you.

Tomorrowland just wasn't a magical place. It's built up as this fantastic place, yet it just looked like the city from Star Trek Into Darkness. All metal and stone. Not really memorable or unique. The action was silly, and it really falls apart at the end. They say the girl is special and needed, but nothing she does made me think that was true.

Expendables 3 was ok, but all the problems other people had what I didn't like as well. The lack of violence is a major problem, and the new young team is also really hard to swallow. The last battle between Gibson and Stallone was underwhelming compared to the fight with Van Damme as well. I did like the addition of Banderas, though. I think he was the best part of the film, and I wish he was in all three.

I can see how people could love Rogue Nation the best. However, it's about on par with part three for me, which I still think is a very solid film. I rank them 4, 3, 5, 1, 2

Have you ever seen the film Enemy directed by Denis Villeneuve? If you like Sicario and Prisoners, I would recommend checking that one out as well. A very bizarre film at times but wonderfully crafted. I have a tough time picking a favorite between those three sometimes.

Definitely check out The Hateful Eight when you get the chance. It was a great throwback western.

I'm pretty amped for Batman v Superman as well. I agree, Affleck and Cavill look great. I can't wait to see them clash on the big screen. I really liked Man of Steel so I'm glad to see this one is continuing the story and the destruction of Metropolis wasn't for nothing.

I really hope both Gadot and Eisenberg deliver. I don't have anything against Gadot but I haven't seen her in anything yet that's really impressed me. Eisenberg is kind of hit or miss for me. I really liked him in The Social Network and End of the Tour and thought he was alright in Zombieland so hopefully he delivers.

Cranston would have been pretty badass as Luthor. I wouldn't have minded him as Commissioner Gordon either but I'm really happy with the casting of JK Simmons.

You're exactly right about Eisenberg playing the same character. I really didn't like the casting choice at first but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. I don't really like his portrayal in the trailers but from what I hear that is only the first note of the character and a much darker transformation is being saved for the film.

Batman v Superman was film that I liked the first time but had VERY mixed feelings but upon a second viewing I absolutely loved it.

Henry Cavill was excellent once again as Superman but Ben Affleck's Batman stole the show for me. I had confidence in the casting choice and Affleck absolutely nailed it. I really liked how this was a much more edgy Batman that kills, swears, brands criminals and is outright badass like he is in the comics during his later years. I'm really excited to see him appear once again in Suicide Squad later this year.

Gadot as Wonder Woman was fantastic as well. I had mixed feelings going in but she really won me over. I can't wait to see more of her character as well. I actually didn't mind Eisenberg as Luthor. I can definitely see where people have complaints but I didn't mind this fidgety take on the character. I do wish there was a scene or two of him revealing a much more straight up evil side to show his quirkiness was just a facade but oh well.

The first time I saw the film I thought the film felt very overstuffed but with a second viewing it felt much more focused since I knew what to expect and where the story was going. Doomsday did feel very shoe horned in the first time as well and I was really pissed with how rushed Superman's death felt. After all, "Death of Superman" is an iconic, big fleshed out storyline so my initial thought was that it felt unnecessary but now I really dig it. It was really ballsy to kill off Superman already and of course he's going to come back but I'm really digging that this is what will be a contributing factor to the Justice League forming. I like how this forces Bruce to be the one to unite the "seven samurai" so to speak without a superman in the world to protect the world from the ominous threat he is having visions of.

What did you think of the "Knightmare scene"? Many found it confusing and disorienting but man I loved it! I'm really digging how ambiguous it is. I like to believe that is a vision of the future further justified by the appearance of Ezra Miller's Flash. I'm really looking forward to seeing this pay off in future installments. I like how it's hinting at Superman being a threat as well. Could be a very cool story arc.l

I actually haven't seen any of The Flash tv series. I hear some pretty positive things but I just can't get into the superhero tv shows as much. One exception would be the Netflix series of Daredevil. I'm about halfway through the first season and am really liking it so far. Have you seen that show?

I haven't seen a whole lot from Ezra Miller yet but I thought he did a good job in Perks of Being a Wallflower and he seems like a pretty cool dude in interviews. I think he will surprise a lot of people as the Flash. Flash has always been one of my favorite characters when I read the comics so I'm looking forward to seeing Ezra's take on him.
