Say what you want about the sequels, The Matrix was by far the best movie going experience I've ever had. The best fight scenes ever caught on film, and the most jaw dropping original scifi story ever told. If only they stopped at one.

Flickchart is about ranking your FAVORITE movies not the BEST movies you've seen. The Matrix is somewhat overrated but that doesn't mean it still doesn't have lots of fans.

I might be in the minority on this one, but I thought (even though they were a huge step down from the original) the sequels didn't ruin the first one. I still see the first movie the same way before and after I saw the sequels. Only my opinion...

The sequels were pretty bad but it can't damage the original. The sequels can only damage themselves and also the reputations of the Wachowski Brothers.

I find it hard to believe that such a dull, poorly acted and downright nonsensical movie is held in such high regard! I didn't see it when it was released so that could contribute to my dislike!

that's interesting because one of my close friends also did not see it at the time of release and saw it just recently for the first time and disliked it quite a bit. I can understand your hate for it, but I personally love it.

An absolute pop-culture sci-fi masterpiece. Complete genius. One of my Top 10 favourite films of all time (currently sitting at #6). Stunning, influencial, and features Carrie-Anne Moss as the coolest suplorting female character ever in an action movie, peroid. 10/10

Overall, for a complicated scenario, things are pretty tight story wise and the film noir feel adds to the aesthetics.
