Both are super-great starting films in their series', so it is a bit hard to pick between them. I think 'Terminator' takes the cake just slightly.

Terminator is fun for a campy actioner, but ALIEN is innovative, spectacular, and permanently stretched the imaginations of so many viewers and filmmakers. Priceless cinematic treasure.

Hmmm a very interesting match! Well this is exactly what Flickchart is for! Both are great, but the idea of The Terminator appeals to me slightly more I think.

The Terminator is bullshit, I don`t care who knows it. Alien? Alien. It`s Alien, guys. Let`s be serious just for a moment. It`s Alien. Arnold does nothing in The Terminator. THE ONLY GOOD PART IS WHEN HE GETS SQUISHED. Everything else is just brisk walking.

I both love and hate matchups like this. Both are great movies. Gotta give it to Alien though.

The Terminator is a great action movie but I love the suspense and terror that Alien is able to produce. Both great but Alien is much better.

I prefer Terminator because it was campy, fun, terrifying at times, perfectly cast, and had a fantastic score behind it. Bravo James Cameron...now when the hell will you cut it out with this AVATAR and Titanic crap!?

I must confess Alien has aged far better than The Terminator. I also found Arnold as a cyborg far more terrifying than a weird creature that sometimes evoked sexual imagery. But as a film, Alien is a bit better. Like I said, The Terminator seems dated and I hate Linda Hamilton. Except for Arnold's awesome performance, there really wasn't anything memorable about it. The soundtrack with its video-game beats sucked as well. Alien as a film concept was far more sophisticated with great performances by the whole cast. Alien is not very rewatchable though.

A month ago I would have said Terminator, but I rewatches Alien and for the first time I fully appreciated it. Alien wins.

Well, I just rewatched both of them and they both continue to get better with each viewing and continue to climb up my chart. I am now going with The Terminator, but they sit right next to each other on my list.
Love both, but Alien for me.

I just have to go Alien. Legit suspense...really stuck with me. The Terminator was great of course...just didn't have the same impact...

The Terminator. Both of these are movies I grew up with, so they kinda automatically had an impact on me. But I love Terminator just a bit more, it was more thrilling.

Alien by such a small margin i do love Terminator but Alien is so great and scary so influencial and a Pioneer in the Sci-fi horror genre a true classic.
Alien for me as well every time I watch it im always thrilled in the end scenes

Terminator ,because Alien does that thing where it's just wastes screen time by "building up tension" leaving us only like an hour of good movie. Meanwhile The Terminator gets down to it fairly quickly.

Their sequels are huge improvements, which is saying a lot, but Terminator wins for the fact that it simply didn't bore me like Alien did.

I really like The Terminator, but I think it needs a rewatch before it can compete with a behemoth like Alien for me. And yes I know, The Terminator is almost the definition of a classic, but I definitely need to watch it again, don't think I appreciated it as much as it probably deserves the first time around. And about Alien vs Aliens, I actually prefer Alien.
I've beat Alien Isolation a few days ago, and I'll try to re-watch Alien. But for now, I prefer The Terminator.

I 'want' to call this a clear win for Alien, but upon further reflection, it's actually much, much closer than I thought... I think this is one of those match-ups that I'll never be able to solve unless I go with my gut feeling, and my gut's telling me Alien, so... Sorry, Schwarzy!
