Both amazing, but the more i think about it, the more i realize just how good Fellowship was.

I can't stand movies like The Shawshank Redemption. To me, it has something I call 'schamltz' factor, in that the complete and total shameless playing to my emotions just turns me off. The swelling music, the "meaningful" gazes off into the distance, and the fact that all these criminals are such good guys just makes me want to puke. I sat through it while rolling my eyes effusively. It wasn't a 'feel good' movie, but rather a 'feel manipulated' one. Fellowship, on the other hand is a master level fantasy film with gorgeous costumes, amazing acting, and a convincing take on Tolkien's work. And also has very little schmaltz. That much can't be said for Shawshank.

I love Shawshank to bits, but it can't compete with the Lord of the Rings trilogy, let alone my favourite of the three films. Fellowship wins.

Not many movies can beat Shawshank for me, but the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is one of those rare cases

While The Shawshank Redemption is an experience that'll last a lifetime that is both rewatchable and touching, Fellowship is that rare film that will beat a masterpiece that has aged like fine wine, even if it's by one place for me.

SSR is not very FUN to watch as its a prison movie. Its hard to ever watch a second time. Both movies are in my top 10. Fellowship is a joy to watch and has huge reply value. Going with Fellowship for the FUN FACTOR
i changed my mind. Shawshank is too powerful. The meaning of hope and survival is too strong. Sorry but Shawshank wins in double over time.
Both are brilliant but I choose LOTR
