I don't know what to compare them to, but if I had to describe them in a word, I'd call them "moody"...or "dark". They all have a seriousness to them. This can be a turn-off for some people, but I personally love his work.
Hour of the Wolf is a gem and a really good entry point for someone who hasn't seen a Bergman film before.
Hope you like it!

Thanks. I'm also curious who your favorite director is.

That would be Stanley Kubrick. I am a massive fan of his.

Agreed. I thought The Next Three Days was great. So far, the best movie I've seen this year. The last half hour was incredibly tense; even if I thought I knew where it was going, it still kept me on the edge of my seat.

Hmm...well my netflix queue is well-stocked with over 300 titles, and every once in awhile, I bump 10 films to the top that I'm in the mood for at the moment. I don't ever watch one kind of movie- I'm open to most things (Even if something looks bad, I'll check it out if I think it will at least entertain me).

Speaking of Netflix, have you checked out the new original series House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey and directed by David Fincher? It's really a high quality show.

(Hey, sorry it takes me so long to reply sometimes!)

Often, availability of movies is the biggest issue for me. I buy a lot of DVDs, but I'm cheap, so I wait until I can get a good price. And then I'm in Canada, so my version of Netflix is kind of limited. (That's actually how I saw The Next Three Days.) I live in a small town 45 minutes from the nearest theater, so going out to the movies is something pretty special, and limited in my case. The fact that I managed 8 times last year was pretty great.

I know I like blockbusters and sci-fi and action and thrillers, so any combination of the above works. But when it becomes available to me plays a big part.

Hey o' ! Dude,it really depends. Truth is i don't have any filters...when some movie nails my curiosity,it's good enough. I'm trying to be more selective on 2013. We shall see.

Read my little review of BOYHOOD. I think you'll notice that we might feel the same way.
