Pitched to Disney by Stuart Gordon & Brian Yuzna, this suburban adventure remains a classic for kids and older crowds. It has a lively story with fleshed out characters. Despite their individual problems, the characters embody a wonderful maturity and optimism as they live through the danger. With more moments of peril than you'd expect out of a family feature, it balances the threat of annihilation with quintessential 80s comedy. The special effects, James Horner's score, and a charismatic cast make for a wonderful film. The Blu-ray gets my highest recommendation.
