Honestly, I like Elton John just fine but I'm not obsessed with him like so many. So this is an unbias viewpoint that I think Rocketman is good overall. Taron Egerton is fantastic, the descent into madness is both well realised and has great themes of the shallow and empty reality that is fame with its use of music, character interactions and surreal imagery. As for negatives, there's a bit of random musical breakouts that I felt were a bit too much and were pretty cringeworthy but I think that says more about my personal taste over the movie itself. Would I see the movie again?... no but it is a decent watch.
