I'm not ready to put it above my two favorite installments, but Fallout was definitely excellent. Really sticks the emotional landing, and I was grinning like an idiot during the entire third act. My M:I rankings: 5 > 3 > 6 > 4 > 1 > 2. (A rewatch of Ghost Protocol could theoretically get me to choose it over Fallout, but Rogue Nation and M:i:III are still my favorites.)

2018 movie #20: Mission: Impossible- Fallout. Bland and clichéd story, the actors get no chance to shine as do the characters and there's hardly any tension. The only saving grace is in the filmmaking; particularly the fantastic stuntwork. This is a competent movie but incredibly bland for a franchise that is anything but bland. Even the worst of this series beforehand (including M:I 2) was very interesting and had a lot of personality. It’s the only M:I: film I have no desire to rewatch again. 6/10.

I have to disagree a lot here. While Ghost is an enjoyable movie, it certainly is the second weakest in the series for me. Mission Impossible 6 has better characters, story, and certainly better action.

The best of the Mission Impossible films by far. A masterpiece of action. Not just one of the best modern movies, but one of the best action films of all time.
