Just watched this one last night on the netflix instant. I really enjoyed it. I liked the surprise transition from scifi to romantic drama. It could have been another in a long line of alien movies where the government try to captures the extra terrestrial. But here Carpenter adds a human element that really works. And a great performance by Bridges.

Strange film for Carpenter, but still quite good. Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen are terrific.
