Not sure if this is Peele’s best movie, but it’s at least up to par with his other two projects.

And my God, that freaking monkey is terrifying.

I thought that opening scene was just another promo for his "Monkey Paw" production company. I thought it was the coolest production card I had ever seen. I was so surprised when it came back later, and was very glad it did. Definitely one of the better parts of the movie. Too bad it didn't really end up going anywhere. Or rather, that that whole plot device was wrapped up in the second act.

First two acts were amazing, but man that third act was terrible. That twist reveal at the end of act two was so dumb, and then I had to sit through an entire act of it. Boo.

I was at first a little bummed about the tone shift, but then I had this thought: this must be what watching an alien invasion movie in the 1950s was like. I don't know about you but I go back and watch movies like Killers From Space, which start with humans helpless against the aliens and turn the tables by the end, and neither part of it is convincing to me. This felt like one of those movies would if it actually worked on me, and that's kinda never happened to me before. So I appreciated it!

I guess I was just bummed by how good the first two acts were followed by how bad the third act was. The movie was on track to be Jordan Peele's best work to date, but he totally dropped the ball. It was still a cool, unique, fresh idea, and I respect it. I rated the movie pretty highly, its still a good movie totally worth the watch, but there are some major problems in the third act. The movie sets rules and then immediately breaks them, and then the rules apply again. There was a lot more wrong with the third act than just the plot twist. Why did the documentarian run out like he did? So dumb. Boo. Boo the third act.
