Joker is DC's version of Ang Lee's Hulk. Artsy fartsy crap from people that don't know the source material at all nor care about the genre.

Joker is frustrating given we will never know what was real or what was in his mind. Interesting but ultimately crap.

Loved it, but there wasn’t a drop of happiness in this film. I still love it very much despite that

It's a fantastic performance. Not quite as good as Heath, but Joaquin is a certified Great Actor. I'm not entirely sure that this movie is everything it really wants to be, though, and I think its implications are complicated. Basically, I give it a positive rating, but I'm of mixed feelings on the finished product.

Yet another entry from new Hollywood’s apparent “depression era.” This dark, morbid and dank movie may take the title as most overrated film of the year given all the hype. Crazed performance aside, the entire effort is a one note stale piece of cinema. Anyone saying otherwise must be as secretly depressed as this Joker or maybe just as insane. The movie felt long and actually felt like bad homework. Something to sit through just to see why there is buzz surrounding what is clearly a trash film.

Evil is portrayed in its purest form here. An evil that is brought upon by the tragedy that is mental illness as it is rejected by society. A major theme of this film and an important perspective for us to understand today. That being said; Joaquin gives a notable performance though Heath might have delivered the greatest on-screen performance of all time. I felt elements of Kubrick films while watching. Keeping an open mind, making a point to grasp the serious symbols and themes of this narrative makes the film admirable though it can be uncomfortable at times.

Joaquin Phoenix is disturbingly brilliant in this brutal depiction of a society and a human soul in a downward survival mode. This is a comic book designed for adults. It unmasks the inner demons of a true villain and gives us a clue why we sometimes cheer them on.This film is a masterpiece of cinematic perfection. If the academy awards can grow a pair and stop awarding films just for their political correctness this is a film that deserves their attention and praise.

In a world where Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy already exist, Joker is unnecessary. It's cinema cosplay.

There's worse films out there that ape Scorses's filmography. Better ones too. Worth checking out for Phoenix but much of the film is hollow at best.

I enjoyed it, but I'm still not sure what to take away from it. Very grim film, but definitely among the better comic book movies.
