I am dying to see this film!!!! If the film delivers the way the trailers promise, this will easily be one of the greatest of 2013!!! Can't wait to see what JJ has for us before Ep VII!

******Major spoilers for Star Trek: Into Darkness****

Now Kate, I want to know, how big was the reaction in the crowd when Harrison revealed he was Khan? Not a peep in mine! I think it would of been even better if we had some more Star Trek geeks in the cinema so we could feed off their excitement.

I loved the different tone at the start to the rest of the movie. It had an adventure film feel to it, it was fast paced and exciting. It was an effective way to have us pumped pre-credits, to being tense at the appearance of John Harrison after the opening title.

For me, some of Bones' lines fell flat for me. I think they were supposed to be jokes, but it didn't work for me. Like I said, all I see him as now is Dredd, so it might be my fault. :) Oh, whoever that blonde haired girl was can't emote her lines! When she's talking to her dad (Robocop) I didn't feel anything! Sure she was crying, but it didn't feel genuine to me. Look at Cumberbatch while he was talking about his crew! The difference is amazing! How could they get one casting so right and another so wrong! Oh, sure her changing was nice, but what a lame joke that we've seen a thousand times! It felt so tacked on just to have her in her underwear. What did you think of her acting Kate?

In case you wanted to know for the cinema I was in, it was absolutely silent which i guess was a great thing! The revealation itself was brilliantly done though a predictable. You already know how I felt about Alice Eve's acting and yes, when she was crying it just didn't work for me. On the other hand, when Cumberbatch cried, boy that was phenomenal!!! That underwear scene was actually pretty retarded!

*********spoilers below for Into Darkness!***********

Shane, I felt exactly the same way about the blonde girl, and said she was the only thing in the film that didn't work for me on the Star Trek/ST: Into Darkness discussion page. She was just not good at delivering her lines, and making us believe that she was devastated at the events involving Robocop. ;D
I felt the underwear scene was just unnecessary and really didn't add anything. If it was meant to imply that Kirk would be attracted to her and potentially set up a future romance, we didn't need it at that stage.

Bones wasn't integrated quite as well as I'd expected, his lines stopped the flow of the movie a bit sometimes.

There was no crowd reaction when I saw it either! I went in the afternoon so it wasn't packed, however I expected a bit of an 'ooooh' from some, but nothing! I felt like I was the only one laughing at some parts!

I loved Zachary Quinto in this movie, and the 'KHAAAAAAAN!!' part sent shivers up my spine.

And Cumberbatch........well there are no words to describe the epic-ness, are there :)

Haha! I'm glad we're in agreement over her! :) Even when she was getting beamed over to Robocop's ship it was awful. Running around like a headless chook, she couldn't even make that look convincing! :D

One thing, you might be able to make it clearer. So did Khan's plan hinder entirely on them not checking the missiles? I can't remember, why didn't they?

The last fight between Spock and Khan was great! I liked how he grabbed him by a pressure point! :D That whole scene was amazing.

Was the pressure point thing a Vulcan death grip or something? It was awesome anyway :D

No, it was Khan who told them to open one of the torpedoes, wasn't it? Marcus ordered Kirk to take the torpedoes to take out 'Harrison' so it was his plan initially to waste Khan's 'family' and get rid of him into the bargain.......I think?!

I guess? :D Sounds like you're right about the grip. :) It was awesome, but it made me laugh as well that this superhuman who recovers from being punched in the face ten times, yet screams in pain by being squeezed on the shoulder. :D

You're right again! :) That's what happened, it sits better with me now. :)

Kate, how would you compare Khan to other recent villains like The Joker and Bane? He's right up there for me, I think i'll like him even better on re-watch. I actually was feeling sympathetic for him at one stage, until I found out he's a future nazi! :D They did a good job at giving you mixed feeling about him.

I think Khan is right up there with them too, also agree with you about the re-watch potential, and I felt sympathy for him as well. Cumberbatch played him to perfection, there was so much depth to the character.

I loved that scene where Kirk is repeatedly punching him, and there's no effect!

When Cumberbatch says 'Khan'! next time, I'm gonna get so much more from it!

Something doesn't sit well with me Kate. They gave Kirk Khan's blood, does that mean he has some sort of powers now? Or is that a plothole?

It's Quinto that says it - remember when Kirk's inside the chamber and Spock is on the other side of the glass? ;) But I would love to hear Benedict do it as well!

I see the blood thing as a plot device to keep Khan alive for bringing him back in a future film(I hope!!), because surely if Kirk just needed some super-blood, they could've woken up another of his crew, kept them in a coma and took blood from them.
I think I remember Bones told him his blood was clean, no effects :)

That was another minor disappointment for me, the fact that the action just stopped and you see Kirk wake up in the hospital bed and he's ok, I was kind of expecting to see them bring Khan back to the ship and see the fallout from it, but like I said it's only a minor thing.

I understand what you mean, but I meant when he revealed his real name was Khan instead of John Harrison. :)

Oh, i must of missed that Bones said that about the blood. Lucky I have you to clarify these things. :D

Khan HAS to come back Kate! If they leave it like that, it's the worst ending ever. It'll be quite a wait unfortunately. That's one problem with Abrams doing Star Wars.

Now Kate, what did you think of old Spock just telling young Spock about Khan after he just said he couldn't because it could alter everything? It just felt like pandering to the audience to me.

It was a surprise to see him again, but I felt like they shoehorned him in because of the reaction to old Spock in the first movie!

*****spoilers for Into Darkness, you should know by now! :D ********

Yep, I agree. Plus Shatner is an arsehole! :D Another thing. Why didn't he talk to old Spock in private? If I was a worker on there I would be like "holy shit, he's talking to himself!" :D Nope, seems fine to them. :D

I never thought of that!! Yeah, in the first movie they talk in private don't they, no-one else is around and no-one knows of the conversation! :O

Old Spock not only could alter young Spock, but everyone that heard that message! But we're not supposed to think about it too much apparently.

For me, the conversation between old Spock and new Spock didn't really bother me that much but it wasn't that necessarily. Whilst it played a huge part, and my favorite part in the 2009 reboot, here it does almost nothing. I wasn't in awe and it definitely was kinda unnecessary but at least it was very minor in this film.

It doesn't detract from my score of the film, I just think it could of been handled better. We're talking about time travel here, something that shouldn't be tossed away like it's nothing. All it would of taken was young Spock stepping into another room.

Maybe i'm having a VERY grumpy year for blockbuster, but even w/ Star Trek charting #17 here i thought the sequel was only regular at best.
