It never ceases to amaze me just how beautiful and creative stop-motion animated films are. It's about time a sort of martial arts epic got the stop-motion treatment; it's a glorious combination. Come next Oscars, it'll be an all-out brawl between Kubo and Zootopia for that coveted Best Animated Feature award. I'd be incredibly happy if either of those wins. As long as it's not Finding Dory.

Every once in a while there's a movie that you have really high expectations for going into. And very rarely are these expectations met. This movie is a rare exception, and not only did it meet a level I wanted it to, it surpassed it with flying colors. The set pieces, voice acting, camera work, and story were fantastic and if you get the chance to see this movie by all means it is worth the watch.

I thought I was going to be able to give a Laika movie a 5/5 for the first time since Coraline... and it was oh so close. This movie was absolute magic the whole way through. Up until the 3rd act. It had the exact same problem with Paranorman.
