I hate this more than the original. Because while the music in the original drives me UP THE WALL to this day, the animation does benefit to the story. The remake has nothing to justify its existence. It's a junk food movie for a junk food America.

Took me awhile to get to this but, yeah, it's not great. We know the story and the characters but it just lacks the colour and expression of the original in basically every way. Animation, voice acting and dialogue. How on Earth is this almost a half hour longer when it's shot for shot yet takes away more than what it adds? Let me tell you the thought process at Disney was when making this "movie";
Let's remake Lion King- Lion King sells tickets
Let's give it photo realistic CGI- Live action sells tickets
Let's let James Earl Jones voice Mufasa- James Earl Jones sells tickets
Let's cast Beyonce and have her do a song- Beyonce sells tickets
Let's have Elton John do a new song- Elton John sells tickets
Let's have Hans Zimmer return to do the score- Hans Zimmer sells tickets

What I'm trying to say; it's a soulless, money making exercise that's far inferior to the classic original. Jon Favreau focused too much on making everything "real" rather than crafting an interesting update to something beloved. And why is Jeremy Irons not voicing Scar and why did they alter Be Prepared to some crappy 30 second edgy speech?
