The screenplay for this movie is so rich and robust. I almost fell in love with every single line of dialogue. The acting is top notch as well. Hoffman does awkward as if it comes natural to him. John Ortiz, who I'm not familiar with, gives an excellent performance as a self righteous yet jealous husband. The only bad thing about this movie is Hoffman's amateurish directing. He gets the pacing all wrong to the point where it feels like scenes were ripped from the movie. Also, some of his stylistic choices were a bit over the top, some even very obvious choices. But even with all it's shortcomings, Jack Goes Boating is an exquisite film where you're rooting for all the characters.
