I don't know why we as a society ever decided that goofy special effects, overacting, cartoonishly evil villains, and grand, theatrical scores were somehow a BAD thing in superhero movies, but we really dropped the ball there... This is infinitely better than pretty much every "dark, gritty" comic book movie that came out after it - and it wasn't even based on a comic book! Also one of Liam Neeson's best performances of his entire career in my opinion.
