I'm chalking it up to another fairly unnecessary remake (along with Let Me In). It's good, but brings almost nothing new to the table. If anything it was "less" intense than the Swedish film. Kind of disappointed. But it might be just because I already knew the whole story going into it.

God bless Rooney Mara for this one.

Overrated. It's a rather pedestrian whodunnit with just enough overly graphic scenes to distract from an overexposed story.

Loved this one. Not 100% sure which version I loved more.

I rank this above the original for the performances. Craig and Mara are so brilliant in this film, and they do outdo the actors in the original.

The overall execution however is not as good. The key payoff moment is so anti climatic, whereas in the original it was an overwhelming moment.

Fantastic film with a brilliant execution. Fincher is easily one of the greatest auteurs of this generation.

After watching both versions, I can honestly say I liked this version more. I'm not sure what others see in the original to feel that it's better, but to each their own. The original is good, but Mara played a much better Salander I thought, and the atmosphere of the remake was incredible. Fantastic cast overall. Fincher continues to be the best book adaptation director in the business.

Very underrated, one of fincher's best and much better than The Game, which is higher rated on this site.
