The Christmas movie 2020 deserves. In fact, it’s the perfect movie for 2020 in general. Mel Gibson masterfully plays a sad, hardened, slightly depressed borderline alcoholic Chris Cringle. A gritty slightly super-powered Santa despondent and running short on funds that notes how kids are getting worse as generations pass. The movie is not much on plot and spends WAY too much time following the warped and evil exploits of the hitman villain. Walter Coggins is perfect as the most vile villain of 2020 but he is a one dimensional bad guy despite so much screen time. I actually liked the warped and strange take on the Santa myth and his elves. It just needed less of a body count and more heart. Maybe in the sequel???
