A really long film that could have been much shorter. Not much happens and the main gimmick of the film had controversy for a reason. All around fantastic acting and dialogue, but the movie isn't deserving of it's position or reputation. I think parts of Forrest Gump do a much better job even though it's not even trying to be serious or realistic concerning the Vietnam war.
