Solid conclusion to a surprisingly great trilogy

I had a good time with this one, the visuals were really spectacular at times

I seem to be one of the rare people who HATED this movie. Yeah it has some great MOMENTS in it, absolutely tearworthy ones, and fantastic visuals; but the story, characters, and writing were so so bad that I can't help but hate this movie. Especially because the first two films were the transcendent pieces of film they were, and this was such a shift in tone and style for the worse. I was expecting another fantastic movie, and got generic, pandering, joke filled kids fluff not unlike the Minions movie...

I saw the movie and I don't see too many wrongs in it. I think you're just overlooking it.

I don't hate the movie, but I didn't love it as much as everyone else did. The first movie is amazing and the second one is almost as good. This was kind of a disappointing end to the trilogy. It didn't really feel like a HTTYD movie until the final act to me.

Oh no I'm not overlooking it at all. I loved the first two movies to death, they're in my top ten here on Flickchart. The wrongs with this movie I find MOST unforgivable are the way that Toothless is characterized as nothing more than a horny dog now, and that the ending after defeating all the villains and ensuring their future of cooperation and coexistence with the dragons is possible for the upteenth time, Hiccup declares the dragons have to go away and sends them all to the Hidden world forever, for NO REASON (other than "Humans suck and it's our world so you have to go away now" which is even worse than no reason actually.) It took the optimistic outlook of the first two movies of "Change IS possible" and turned a complete 180 and said "Nope, change ISN'T possible after all. Give up on trying to fix the world and just go get married and have kids." The biggest middle finger I've ever been given cinematically, and so I give it right back.

I'm emotionally drained. A perfect end to a great trilogy. Oodles of heart, humour and charm. 9/10 from me.
