It's a great movie but it is also a little overrated. That's my opinion. I like Hannibal and Buffalo Bill but the movie only kinda chilled me and never left a lasting impression on me.

A classic psychological horror mystery. Great direction and smart use of lighting to enhance the chilling portrait of the diabolical Hannibal Lecter. Hopkins' performance as Lecter, one of the all time great antagonists, is nothing short of amazing. Foster, for her part turns in a great performance as an FBI Trainee assigned to interview Lecter.

One of the best films of the 1990s. Very talked about. While not exactly by definition a horror genre, sure scary and disturbing at times. Well made film. Hopkins earned that Oscar indeed.

The other thing that gives Silence its special charge is Hopkins' powerfully ingratiating performance as the formidable villain. Every second he's on the screen, you can't help but feel uncomfortable.

It's all right, I mean it had great acting, chemistry, dialogue, etc, but unlike other thrillers like Se7en, I never really found this movie to be dark and disturbing. Maybe someday I will find out.
