Brilliant film that, like Crash, captures the reality that sometimes a persons bark is much worse than their bite. This Eastwood's character reminds me of my grandfather. At times I despised the words he used but realized he was a good person once he gave someone a chance.

An amazingly under appreciated film, Gran Torino is a work of art. It has so much to say about prejudice, family, honor, and what makes an American. It's charismatic, funny, dramatic, full of heart, and refreshingly devoid of the political correctness so prominent in most Hollywood films (and my belief why it was snubbed for an Oscar). Everyone should see this film, especially movie lovers.

Eastwood nails it with this one. His character along with the boy and girl are great. Every bit of dialogue that Eastwood has whether it is with the barber or his son or the punks or his dog is classic. Showing the boy what it takes to be a man. Many would be so lucky to have such a role model. A true work of art!

It's the grown-up version of Up. And just as great.

Oh my god . . . Alexander Payne totally ripped off that silhouette poster for Nebraska.

gran torino is a good movie and fight club is a bad movie. Fight club is bad because of bad scenes and gran torino is good because of good soundtrack.

Not sure what fight club has to do with Gran Torino. You must really hate David Finches if you feel the need to comment about his movies on unrelated comment threads. Hope you feel better about yourself now.

Damn good movie with some great themes. One of Eastwood's best roles.

I really liked it, but some of the supporting cast seemed a little lacking in their line delivery.

Eastwood is terrific and it has its moments, including a powerful ending but loses points for being very preachy and having some cheap characterisations.

I must be watching something different because I thought Gran Torino was both poorly written and poorly acted. I'm a little disappointed because I think pretty highly of Eastwood. Eastwood's performance carried this movie for me, despite the rest of it dragging it down.
