The poor man's Gone With the Wind. It's well made and well acted by the always watchable (and hot) Bette Davis, but it's thematically all over-the-place and it's characters are poorly written. The way the film chooses to portray Julie's character arc feels confused and poorly realized, and all the messages in the film felt contradictory and questionable.
