Holy shit! Despite all the hype, I wasn't too excited for this one. Watched it last night and it blew me away. It got better by the second. The tension at times was unbearable, the cinematography was splendid, James Newton Howard's score was perfect, and Jake Gyllenhaal was off the fucking hook. Possibly the best performance of the year. Not to mention the story is very well told and offers some great social commentary. Great stuff. A rare instant favorite for me.
