Saw a screening of Conviction with Hope a few days ago.

Needless to say, I was happy when she told me earlier in the week that she got us free tickets to a screening. But also needless to say, when I finally looked up the movie an hour or so beforehand, I was appalled to discover that it was "a heartwarming true story about a sister's unending love for her brother" or somesuch. Heartwarming?? The agony.

While it could have used more explosions, vampires, or both (a la Futurama!)... I'm ashamed to admit that it was actually a great movie. The acting was solid all around: I'm always a fan of Sam Rockwell, and while I was always kinda "meh" about Hillary Swank, she's impressive here.

Yeah, it's a sister's love for her brother, but it's not that lame kinda love that's all mushy and wasty-20-dollarsy. Solid fare.
