2018 movie #22: BlacKkKlansman. It’s hard talking about a movie of this subject matter because what I say might come off the wrong way. It’s also hard to talk about a mediocre and overrated movie like BlacKkKlansman because it might come off the wrong way. BlacKkKlansman felt like it was made by two different groups. One group doing the drama and editing it in a conventional way trying to seriously portray a message. And the other doing the satire and editing in a quirky way trying to poke fun of a serious subject matter. But it’s too sincere at times to think of it as satire and too joyous at times to take it seriously. The clash of tones don’t work and the movie as a whole isn’t particularly special or interesting anyway apart a few moments. 5/10.

Got to disagree with you a bit, This was a Spike Lee joint so yes its serious Subject matter like Do the Right Thing hell all of his films are based on serious Matters but all throw in Tone and Cheek often winking at the audience. This Movie wasnt a top ten film of the year but with the great performances and smart writing ill say this is a top 50 film of the year. sure ive only seen about 140 films from 2018 so far but I believe this film was a solid picture like 6.5/10

Spike Lee's strongest effort in over a decade. A little long but not an experience you'll forget. Washington, Driver and Grace are all superb.
