"While it's an improvement to have genuine Latinx's play Maria and Bernardo, the remake otherwise feels unnecessary. The mystical meeting between Tony and Maria becomes an almost sordid assignation under the stands. Both Tonys are weak, but Richard Beymar isn't nearly as weak as Ansel Elgort. I'll stick with the classic."
