I suspect there will be a day when, in a fit of "let's make my list idiosyncratic", "Week End" knocks "Citizen Kane" off the throne as my #1 film: until then, it's happily at #2. Every time I watch the film, I walk away giddy and full of academic inspiration. I love showing it to first year film students, who are used to thinking that Christopher Nolan films are "mind-f@#ks". This blows their precious little minds, and I laugh heartily.
