O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Burn After Reading are two middling Coen comedies. O Brother has that soundtrack everybody went crazy over, but the movie is only occasionally funny and often stupid. Burn After Reading seems like the Coens were just goofing around without taking the project very seriously. Brad Pitt gets annoying fast. Still, I'd rather watch Burn After Reading again than O Brother, Where Art Thou?

O Brother, Where Art Thou? saw the Coens transplant Homer's Odyssey to the Deep South, with spectacular results. Burn After Reading is good, but can't compare to one of their best pieces.

Burn After Reading simply did not work. It's rare that a movie makes me want to personally stab every major character in the face, but that's what Burn After Reading did for me. O Brother wasn't perfect, but overall, I found it funny and oddly endearing.
