Very close. The more I think about Hot Fuzz and how much more I've enjoyed it in recent years, the more it goes up. RotPotA had more flaws to speak of, but the stuff that they got right was sooooooooooooooo good! I've only recently seen RotPotA for the first time, and am still waiting to catch the sequel, so this could change, but for now I'm going with Apes for being the bigger pleasant surprise on first viewing. As I said though, this is subject to change...
