A Star Is Born vs. A Star Is Born

Well, the original was something. If something good... I'm still trying to make that out. It's funny when it tries to be funny, but when it tries to be dramatic or emotional... yeah, it fails horribly. It's not even all that convincing to tell the truth. She just did her first movie and suddenly wins an Oscar, gosh was it rushed. Fredric March is the spotlight though. On the other hand, A Star Is Born 4.0 is pretty convincing and well acted. Cooper is a way better Maine than March and Gaga just outdoes Janet Gaynor in every way. Also, it's pretty well developed where 1937's felt rushed and even too short for a movie that runs almost two hours. There isn't the depth that Bradley Cooper put in his character. It's a rather easy one for me, the original tries too hard to treat heavy themes such as alcoholism but it just didn't take itself seriously enough.
