Godfather wins this one but it's very close

Both currently in my top 10. The Godfather Part II gets the win.
Godfather for me. An epic portrayal of Don Vito's successor.
I respect TGF2 more than I love it. NXNW is my preference.

As good as NXNW is, and as much as I do prefer Godfather I, there are numerous scenes in Godfather II that are among the best in modern American cinema. The abortion conversation, the "I know it was you" scene, the Hail Mary scene... I think they beat the crop duster and the Mt Rushmore climb, if only barely.
