Nooooooooooooo- don't make me choose. Ok. Fight Club.
How the hell am I supposed to choose between Fight Club and Dark Knight? I’ve been staring at his for 15 minutes! Ok, Fight club, just.
I like The Dark Knight, but I LOOOOVE Fight Club!
Fight Club, while a good movie, has become so overblown by the young male audience. The Dark Knight is, one way or another, a modern classic, and will be remembered as such far after Fight Club becomes irrelevant. Keep in mind, I love Fight Club. But TDK is the better film, unquestionably.
Although I don't agree that Fight Club will ever become irrelevant, The Dark Knight has become the world standard for comic book movies, 2+ hour epics, and the portrayal of the brooding and the insane in modern cinema. Both of these films are in my top 10, but The Dark Knight is an absolutel masterpiece through and through.
I agree with BigBoss8705. While Fight Club might fall just shy of my top ten (I prefer Se7en, when it comes to Fincher's movies), it's an excellent film. But The Dark Knight is better. It sits at my #2.
Fight Club is a cool exploration and lampooning of fascism, but The Dark Knight is perfect.
Fight Club. No question.
it makes me sad that TDK is up against films like these on these flickchart discussions
Fight Club, undoubtedly the best movie in my mind, but forever ruined by the idiocy of many of its fans. Unfortunately far too many people subscribe only to the film for its pure gore (which I never thought was particularly bad anyway), and the whole 'create anarchy' "ideal" that Tyler proposes, which is of course in no way whatsoever the point or the message of the film. For me, Fight Club is almost completely flawless, and the Dark Knight, while good, is a film I would give 7/10. I think I could literally write a thesis on the greatness of Fight Club alone, let alone why it is better than The Dark Knight, and even a thesis on the reasons why people dislike Fight Club. I think there would be no point however, as it would do not good in convincing most people that it is a better film. What I will say, however, is this: Fight Club wins through its filming, its script, its actors, its soundtrack, its many many messages and themes, its pure entertainment value, and lastly, the rewatch value.
Fight Club unveils new layers upon each viewing, but, while all of its performances are outstanding, no actor transcends acting and becomes the character like Heath Ledger became The Joker. The Dark Knight plays out like a fascinating character piece about The Joker, and the people in the periphery of that story bolster it even more. Fight Club may have Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter, but The Dark Knight has Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Aaron Eckhart, and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
d'ah.... how to decide
The Dark Knight hands-down
Fight Club for its fine performances of interesting, sympathetic characters, poignant satire, and compelling visuals that are put together in a tight, well-paced package that is as interesting to watch now as it was a decade ago. The Dark Knight is a top-notch comic book movie that almost transcends its genre thanks to Heath Ledger's definitive portrayal of The Joker, but ultimately the requisite set pieces and grandiose dialogue that make it such an effective hero flick prevent it from being anything more than that.
There is no point in even asking. Fight Club completely destroys The Dark Knight. I don't understand this reverence for The Dark Knight. yea, it was good. But it is not even close to being good enough to be at number one, or even in the top 50.
@Charyou_Tree comparing the number of famous actors in a movie is not a worthwhile measurement. IMO Freeman, Caine, and Gyllenhaal weren't given enough material to fulfill their enormous potentials and ended up contributing very little to the brilliance of the film. and Ledger gave the only performance in that film worth pitting against the genius of Edward Norton
Also. I see TDK as just a brilliant job of adapting the Batman's enormous legacy. While on the other hand, Fight Club did something new.
TDK is very, very good. Easily the best of the caped super-hero genre, and really does an excellent job of straining against the limitations of the rules imposed by that storytelling tradition to create something meaningful for those of us who don't live in a pen and ink world. Like TDK, Fight Club also deals in archetypes and ciphers (untraditional and iconoclastic as they may be). But Fight Club, unfettered by any generic concerns (except maybe those of a mystery), roams destructively though our imaginations as a 50 foot high, fire breathing, acid pissing call to action. The Dark Knight is a marvelous film. Fight Club is a life-changing experience.
Really difficult. I liked both, but I think they were both overrated. I guess Fight Club. Maybe. I dunno. It is really hard.
Fight Club…hands down.
I'd tell you the better film but I am not supposed to talk about it...
Both are in my Top 5, and while Heath Ledger gives the performance of his life in The Dark Knight, both Brad Pitt and Edward Norton give the performances of their careers in Fight Club.
this is one of the toughest decisions i think ive had
Dark Knight. And I don't even have to think twice.
Holy shit! I never thought it would have to come down to this. But to be honest I think Fight Club still has the upper hand in this one.
"Tyler Durden:" Welcome to Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club! Third rule of Fight Club: if someone yells "stop!", goes limp, or taps out, the fight is over. Fourth rule: only two guys to a fight. Fifth rule: one fight at a time, fellas. Sixth rule: the fights are bare knuckle. No shirt, no shoes, no weapons. Seventh rule: fights will go on as long as they have to. And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight."
The Fight Club is masterful and quotable. The Dark Knight is a top notch super hero movie with Heath Ledger defining a perfect villain. I personally give an edge to the more thought provoking and emotionally involving Fight Club.
Masturbation IS self-improvement, Maggie Gyllenhaal is NOT beautiful and Fight Club wins the round.
Don't particularly like either of them, but The Dark Knight wins
While Dark Knight is perfectly quotable and Heath Ledger a perfect example in embodying not just a character, but a gleeful sprite of anarchy, when it comes down between Batman and the Greatest Film I've ever viewed....do i hav to finish that thought?
Really hard choice, two of my favorites. But I am giving a slight edge to The Dark Knight.
Fight Club. The finale is fantastic, the acting is great, the writing is deep, and the whole movie is entertaining, providing a certain visual flair. TDK is a very good movie, but I feel that Ledger carried everyone with the exception of Eckhart and Oldman, and is massively overrated.
Fight Club was far more intriguing.
TDK. While fight Club is good, it completely goes off the rails after the 'Big Twist', especially when "Tyler" gets "dragged" upstairs
The dark knight!
bolth movies are cool but come on fight club is deep and makes u think bat man is just wow cool explosion this is not even close its not even a thing that is worth discussing fight club for the win
I am the Joker's sense of moral responsbility. Tyler Durden achieved so much more than the Joker. Therefore I have to side with Fight Club.
TDK for me. I have watched Fight Club multiple times...it just doesn't work for me. I'm not captain of TDK fan club by any means, but it thumps Fight Club.
Fight Club is amazing, it beats The Dark Knight only by a little bit.
Im saying Dark Knight
Fight Club was very great but not very amazing. The Dark Knight is very amazing.
Fight Club gets this win. Brad Pitt on top form, is hard to beat.
What are people talking about on here Fight Club is very good but its not on The Dark Knight's level.
Fight Club doesn't even come close to the brilliance of TDK.
It's great, but Fight Club is winning this??
The Dark Knight for the tie.
When I think of the word "overrated" the first film that comes to mind is "The Dark Knight". It's not as good as "Batman Begins" and is certainly not as good as "Fight Club".
Just re-watched Fight Club and it blew me away. It's a highly entertaining and intelligent film at the same time.TDK seems to have lesser re-watch value.I thought Eckhart's performance was the best(in the minority).
Fight Club wins.
It's now time to level the damn score in this cool match-up. Both these films have interesting stories/concepts with great performances but TDK was a more special experience. Fight Club and TDK were obviously one of the best films of their respective decades.
FIGHT CLUB WINS!!! WHY? BECAUSE IT HAS SOAP AND THE JOKER COULD CERTAINLY USE THE SOAP.just kidding stupid ass joker
joker vs. tyler durden....a tough one but fight club is the best
two of my favourites but Fight Club!
Even though both movies are one of the best films that ever made, Fight Club is a bit better than TDK.
The Dark Knight wins!
Fight Club has aged better. Just a great film with overall awesome performances.
One of the hardest choices anyone will have to make...
Both top 20 films so its tough. The Dark Knight has the slight edge.
The dark knight wins this easily
Two absolute CULT CLASSICS. Fight Club is a major analysis on world corruption, and so is The Dark Knight, except on a more regional scale. Heath Ledger's Joker and Brad Pitt's Tyler Durden are two anarchists who play their roles to perfection. Durden is a slightly more memorable and influential character, but The Dark Knight is slightly the better film.
The Dark Knight is a cult classic? Guess you have a different definition for "cult classic" than I do.
Both in my top ten, but Fight Club's in my top 2.
It will always be Fight Club for me.
Dark Knight is one of my son's favorite movies and I sat down with him and watched it one day when he came to visit. I loved Batman Begins but never got around this one. I was hugely disappointed when I see. The character of Batman is interresting (a guy who has to battle himself because of his morals and ethics) and I was glad to experience such a good performance by the late Heath Ledger. But the rest of the movie is bullocks! Not only is poorly directed it contains quite a few plotholes. And this is to be taken as one THE greatest movies of all time? "Get outta here!" (Sonny, the Godfather)
pardon me saw it*, is it*
By the way, fight club is not such a masterpiece either however, it does contain some grains of gold
Fight Club WINS Yep that's right I just broke rule number 1 ;]
If I had to pick one of these movies to be the only movie I ever get to watch again, I'd pick: The Dark Knight
FC wins by a whisker
Tough but I'll say Fight Club
No competition at all. Dark Knight buries Fight Club in all aspects from story to casting to acting. The Dark Knight is brilliant. Not the best superhero movie, maybe, but you have to admire it.
Now thats tough .I'll go with fight club.It was more entertaining
The Dark Knight wins by just a hair. Two of my absolute favorites though.
Love both. TDK for me.
close, but I pick fight club
Seriously Fight Club is winning this? The Dark Knight easilt.
Guys I think you're all forgetting the first rule of Fight Club
i enjoyed more Fight Club than Dark Knight!
Fight Club is still perfect, but Dark Knight is rather much appealing better story for me...
Dark Knight is the best effort premier outstanding during the century, rather than Fight Club for me.
The Dark Shite vs Shite Club
TDK by far.
Fight Club is my favorite movie of all time, and The Dark Knight is my second favorite movie of all time. That makes it sound like the answer is clear and that my decision is going to be Fight Club which it is, but it is not an easy answer and it is not clear at all. They are two entirely different movies so it's like comparing Apples to Oranges. Yes they both have amazing acting, direction, and psychopaths but The Dark Knight is amazing in a different way. It didn't try and fit to what people's expectations were for it it just was what it was and if you didn't like it you were A) an idiot and B) entitled to your opinion. Fight Club didn't hold back at all also and it was a sucker punch to the face as it laughed over you as you writhed around ont he floor in pain. Fight Club is not overrated and it will not fade into the background as time progresses no matter what any of the over-critical blind moviegoers and critics say. It is the greatest movie of all time and I will not accept any other opinion.
Nolan over Fincher by consistency anyways. Fincher didn’t even finish his triology
The Dark Knight is barely the best superhero movie of all time.
The dark knight stomps fight club easily here.
The fact we all consistent that fight club is slightly overrated because it didn’t carry of that special modern great story but just lame unlikable shots of the film, and as the dark knight is far realistic the best story ever told in history and that way it all considers it.
on Jan 13
Definitely the dark knight overall fight club is okay but been vastly overrated times.
