A Tale of Two Cities vs. Call Me Madam

Wow. I can't believe I'm doing this. I mean, A Tale of Two Cities is widely regarded as a classic, whereas Call Me Madam is a fairly obscure musical. But I've got to go with The Hostess with the Mostest. It's just fun in a bizarre kind of way, and it's unusual to have both Donald O'Connor (just charming) and George Sanders (sporting a gorgeous baritone voice) in leading male roles! Merm herself ain't bad either, of course. With ATotC, my expectations were probably too high, but I found the whole thing dated and melodramatic. Sure, Colman is great, but everything around him is mediocre. Madam it is!
