Manhattan Murder Mystery vs. Six Degrees of Separation

I bet Six Degrees of Separation sparkled on Broadway as a live stage production. But Six Degrees as a movie was only slightly amusing (through no fault of director or cast). When it first came out, I think the movie understandably received more praise than it deserved - I mean, think about it. An original, intelligent and engaging plot is the professional movie reviewer's elusive holy grail - it's just so damned rare. So they ignored the fact that the best vehicle for this script is a live stage. The best movies can't be told well in another format. Manhattan Murder Mystery was fun and, since I brought up the subject of what the best vehicle is for a concept, Manhattan Murder Mystery would not have been such fun had it been a novel, a tv sitcom, a symphony or a stage play. It had to be a movie. And it was a good one all the way.
