Interesting match-up. One of my favorite horror films and a classic against a new horror movie that changes things up for the best. Gotta go Cabin, if only because its so fresh in my mind
Real FX > CGI any day of the week, and the elevator scene much better done the first time.

Going Kubrick.
This is actually close, but Cabin in the Woods wins. The Shining is great too, and is actually one of the few 'artsy' movies I don't mind and enjoy.

Sorry Cabin in the Woods. You were a surprising and clever horror-comedy that succeeded to be scary yet funny, but their no chance of you beating Kubrick.

Shining easily although Cabin in the Woods is a really unique modern horror flick

The Cabin in the Woods change how you look at horror movies. But, The Shining still the better movie.
