The King's Speech vs. Atonement

Ah, two more highly acclaimed British films set in the same era but with very different stories, purposes and emotional baggage. I found Atonement more surprising than I had expected (I have not yet read the book), and both have very good scripts, casts, acting and production values, but I think The King's Speech wins this one. Not only is it more inspiring, but it has one of the best set of cast and acting that I have seen in any film for along time (Firth of course is excellent, but Rush is probably even more interesting, and there isn't a single weak performance I can think of). Close, but The King's Speech wins this one.

I give this one to Atonement.
