Harakiri vs. GoodFellas

In their own ways, both films are about codes of honor. Harakiri is brilliant and gut-wrenching, but it doesn't have the entertainment value of GoodFellas. Marty Scorsese's film is just a bit better...

Both are legendary movies, but Harakiri gets the edge for shear intensity

Epic matchup. I'm more invested in Harakiri. Just a phenomenal film all the way around. Top 20 for me.

Both films show the dichotomy between men of honour -- in Harakiri's case, Samurai. Both films show the cold, cynical side to following a code. Goodfellas is the clear winner for mine, it is endlessly watchable, quotable and its fast-paced gritty atmosphere is pure euphoria.
