Night of the Living Dead vs. The Crazies

I believe these are the only two Romero films I've seen at this point, and I think his work is a bit too small scale for me. When I watch a horror movie I want to be horrified by the creatures not the supposed good guys. Night of the Living Dead at least had Zombies, The Crazies supposedly had rabbid humans but they barely show up, which makes me pick Night almost by default.

Two fantastic horror films. I have to side with Night of the Living Dead here but I really like The Crazies.

Man, when Romero is good, he's incredible; but when he's bad, he's even more incredible. The Crazies was bad in almost every way, I'd compare it to Maximum Overdrive and Manos: The Hands of Fate. Meanwhile, Night is fantastic in almost every way, and I'd compare it to Alien, Halloween and The Shining!
