The one question about The Manchurian Candidate that festers in my head is: What the hell was the point of Janet Leigh's character? I can't figure that one out. Anyway, To Kill a Mockingbird had the better acting (the acting in The Manchurian Candidate is pretty crappy, actually) and the more effective storytelling. This is an easy choice.

The Manchurian Candidate is a good movie, but it is nowhere near a classic like To Kill a Mockingbird. Not even close.
To Kill a Mockingbird has better acting that gives it the edge here.
