Silence of the Lambs is a rare film: a thriller so solidly crafted, so brilliantly told, it reaches beyond its genre's limitations and becomes something truly unnerving and unforgettable. Even Herzog in top form can't match it.

Silence of the Lambs takes the cake, its just a film so good few can match it even though Aguirre is a great film from herzog.

Aguirre: The Wrath of God is a masterpiece. Silence of the Lambs is very good, but Herzog has created something so great that a serial-killer movie can't even shake, let alone conquer.

Pretty difficult to compare as both films are different genres...but for me the better film is TSOTL...
