This is a surprisingly difficult choice. I adored the first 3/4 of Phantom Thread, but was very underwhelmed by its ending. Spider-Man: Homecoming, however, was a ton of summer fun and was just a great time at the movies. Yet for Paul Thomas Anderson and Daniel Day-Lewis alone, I'll have to give this one to Phantom Thread.
