I liked both of these sequels, because the 2nd was a cool twist on the original concept, but I enjoyed some of the noted references and parody/pastiche elements in the 7th one.

New Nightmare is fantastic! I do enjoy Freddy's Revenge, but it's nowhere near as brilliant as NN.
