As a proud straight man I found Brokeback Mountain to be a wonderful piece of cinema. It is one of the best romance films ever shot and is also splendidly acted. The film does however suffer from a little too much ridiculous concepts that are hard to imagine. Jarhead on the other hand is one of the most convoluted war pictures of all time. It tries way too hard to be Full Metal Jacket without the solid performances and direction that made FMJ a better than average film with slightly above average context.
