I haven't commented in some time but how can you not when you have these two brilliant, Steve McQueen films pitted against each other. Fassbender is unbelievable in both of them and both films are visually stunning. Their emotional depth and subtlety are incredible. Although I have an easier time relating to the modern trappings found in SHAME, I think I will side with history and give this one to HUNGER.

Hunger was brilliant, but Shame kept full attention with an even stronger performance and direction. Shame was more effective and less flawed.
