Two sci-fi classics here. The Empire Strikes Back wins.

I've only seen Close Encounters once, but I wasn't a big fan. It has great visuals and a strong lead performance, but it's too long and really drags in parts. The Empire Strikes Back on the other hand, is pure entertainment from start to finish.

Completely agreed with JC13. Empire is a masterpiece yet Close Encounters didn't do a lot for me
Close Encounters for me, although I don't think either one of these movies really lives up to the expectations set for it.

Both great Sci-fi classics but nothing beats Empire
