Very, very hard choice. My first instinct is to go The Master, then to resist that instinct, then to follow that instinct. Two amazing movies with all-time amazing performances, senses of visual clarity, intense tension and respect of their narrative arcs. Jeez.

Dog Day Afternoon, although I must confess neither one are really favorites.
Dog Day Afternoon, I've watched the Master twice and it's never quite measured up to the rest of PTA's work for me.

The Master is more compelling and more impressive in terms of acting and story.
